You Can’t Do This Alone 🤝

“Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.” – 1 Corinthians 12:27

We live in a world that celebrates independence.

We’re taught to stand on our own two feet, solve our own problems, and never depend on anyone else. While there’s certainly value in taking responsibility, that way of thinking can quietly shape our relationship with God and His church.

It’s easy to think, “As long as it’s just me and Jesus, I’ll be fine.”

But that’s not the picture the Bible paints.

📖 In 1 Corinthians 12, the Apostle Paul reminds us that following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey. God didn’t just save us from our sin. He also saved us into a family, the body of Christ.

🧩 We Belong Together

Paul compares the church to the human body.

Just as your body has many different parts working together, God’s family is made up of people with different gifts, personalities, and experiences. That’s not a flaw. It’s God’s design!

Some teach. Some encourage. Some serve behind the scenes. Some sing. Some welcome guests. Some faithfully pray. Others quietly meet needs that most people never even notice.

Every role matters.

💡 Unity doesn’t mean we all look alike. It means we’re all moving in the same direction under the leadership of Jesus Christ.

🙌 Your Place Matters

One of the biggest lies Christians believe is:

“I don’t really have anything to offer.”

Another is:

“I don’t really need anyone else.”

Paul lovingly challenges both.

God intentionally placed you exactly where He wanted you in His body. Your gifts, your story, your personality, and even your life experiences are not accidents. God can use every bit of them for His glory.

❤️ You matter because God says you matter.

When one person chooses not to serve, the body is weaker.

When someone believes they don’t matter, the whole church misses out on what God designed them to contribute.

❤️ We Need One Another

A healthy church is so much more than people sitting in the same room for an hour on Sunday.

It’s a family.

We celebrate together. 🎉

We cry together. 😢

We pray together. 🙏

We carry one another’s burdens. 💙

Paul says that when one member suffers, everyone suffers. When one member rejoices, everyone rejoices.

That’s what God’s family looks like.

The Christian life was never meant to be lived in isolation.

✅ A Challenge for This Week

Don’t let this message stay on the page. Put it into practice!

Here are a few simple ways to take your next step:

  • 👋 Introduce yourself to someone you don’t know very well.
  • 🙋 Find a place where you can serve.
  • 📞 Reach out to someone who has been absent.
  • 🙏 Call or text another church member and ask, “How can I pray for you this week?”

Small acts of faithfulness make a big difference in the life of a church.

✝️ The Greatest Invitation

Before you can experience the joy of belonging to the body of Christ, you must first belong to Christ Himself.

The good news of the gospel is that Jesus Christ came to save sinners.

He lived the perfect life we could never live, died on the cross to pay for our sins, and rose again so that everyone who places their faith in Him can receive forgiveness, new life, and a place in God’s family.

You don’t earn your way into God’s family.

🎁 Salvation is God’s free gift, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

If you’ve never trusted Him as your Savior, there is no greater decision you could make.

💙 You Were Never Meant to Walk Alone

Whether you’ve been part of our church family for years or you’re just beginning to explore what it means to follow Jesus, remember this simple truth:

You can’t do this alone.

The good news is… God never intended you to.

He designed you to belong.

He designed you to grow.

He designed you to serve.

He designed you to care for others and be cared for in return.

If you’re looking for a church family where you can grow in your faith and find your place, we’d love to welcome you to Collinsville Baptist Tabernacle.

There’s a place for you here. ❤️
